The following summary identifies by page and line number key portions of deposition testimony that would have been utilized had the Father Kelly cases proceeded to trial.
Lay Witness C was born in Santa Barbara in 1943 and attended Our Lady Of Guadalupe. Depo page 10, line 23; page 11, line 21; page 27, line 18. He also served as an altar boy. Depo page 30, line 10.
Lay Witness C knew Priest Witness B from the Blue Jacket Club, a club created by Father Kelly for boys. Depo page 32, line 14; page 33, line 21. Kelly took members of the club camping to his cabin. Depo page 40, line 24.
He also met with Priest Witness B for counseling; Priest Witness B sometimes lent him money. Depo page 66, line 6. When he ran away from home he confided in Priest Witness B. Depo page 68, line 12. Priest Witness B had helped him and he was grateful to Priest Witness B. Depo page 71, line 20. Because of the trust he had in Priest Witness B, he also told him that Father Kelly was taking kids camping and doing funny things; Priest Witness B asked if he had any proof. Depo page 73, line 9. He also told Priest Witness B he had been hearing a lot of weird things about Kelly, and that Kelly had been touching boys inappropriately. Depo page 74, line 1.
